Martin Castrogiovanni is a retired rugby union player who represented Italy’s national side. Martin led a fantastic 15-year career in which he represented some of Europe’s top rugby clubs, such as Leicester Tigers.
His professional career started at Calvisano in 2001 and he was a part of the Italian Championship winning side in 2005. Castrogiovanni signed a contract with Leicester Tigers in 2006; after an incredibly impressive first year at the club, he was named Guinness Premiership player of the season. Although a native of Argentina, Castrogiovanni also qualified to play for Italy where he made his international debut for the Italian national team in 2002.
Castrogiovanni was a regular in the Italian side from 2002-2016 where he collected a staggering 119 appearances, he featured in every game of Italy’s Six Nations campaign in 2004. After seven successful years at Leicester Tigers, Castrogiovanni signed for Toulon. After two years at Toulon, he moved to Racing 92 where he would continue to play until retirement.
